Micah's House is a home for young men 18-25 who have aged out of foster care or who are experiencing homelessness. We are a holistic approach to breaking the cycles of addiction, poverty, abuse, and incarceration. Our program is meant to give young men to space to heal from their past, claim their identity and purpose, and dream for the future.
We provide a safe place to live, food, and initial clothing. We require attendance at our Thursday evening Thrive Nights, an opportunity to gain life skills that most of us learned from our parents over 18 years. The topics of these evening range from personal grooming and trying new vegetables to how credit cards work and verbal de-escalation techniques.
In addition, our young men are given 1-3 mentors. These mentors serve as allies and partners to our guys. The lifelong mentor continue after our men transition out of our home. We also ask our men to share their gifts by participating in community service.
The goal of our program is to transition a young man out to a home of his own, having achieved a level of education to support himself, having earned a driver’s license, with a savings account balance, and with 3-5 meaningful relationships that act as a support network.
Micah’s House is a volunteer organization. Our budget goes to housing, feeding, clothing, and preparing our men.
